Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device

It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
